Modern Slavery Statement 2025

This statement is made in accordance with Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the Act) and is published on behalf of Oakmere Homes (Northwest) Ltd and its subsidiaries. It represents our third formal statement under the Act and covers the financial year ending 31 March 2026.

Our Business

Oakmere Homes is a regional house builder based in Kendal, Cumbria. Our operations include:

  • Purchasing land and securing planning consent

  • Designing, building, and selling residential properties across North-West England

  • Managing a portfolio of rental properties

We directly employ administrative staff at our head office, while most construction site workers are sub-contractors or agency personnel. The majority of our building materials are sourced from UK suppliers, significantly reducing the risk of modern slavery within our direct supply chain.

Our Commitment

We recognise our responsibility to help prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms, both within our operations and throughout our supply chains. We are committed to:

  • Conducting business ethically and responsibly

  • Respecting and promoting human rights

  • Working with partners who share these values

Policies and Due Diligence

To support our commitment, we have implemented the following measures:

Fair pay and equality
All employees are paid above the Living Wage. Our Equality Policy ensures that all staff are treated fairly, respectfully, and without discrimination.

Right to work checks
We verify that all employees have the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins. Employment statements clearly outline working hours, leave, and absence entitlements.

Supplier and subcontractor requirements
We expect our partners to:

  • Confirm workers have the right to work in the UK

  • Avoid charging workers recruitment fees

  • Have processes in place to minimise the risk of forced labour

  • Provide private site inductions for new workers on our projects

Whistleblowing
Our whistleblowing policy enables concerns to be raised confidentially. All reports are investigated and acted upon as appropriate.

Looking Ahead: 2025-2026

In the coming year, we will:

  • Increase awareness of modern slavery risks among employees, suppliers, and subcontractors

  • Encourage the reporting of any concerns through our whistleblowing channels
